Editorial Layout — Meridian Magazine
Twelve-page feature layout designed for a quarterly arts and culture magazine.
Commissioned to design the feature well for Meridian’s autumn issue, a quarterly publication focused on arts, culture, and independent craft. The twelve-page spread needed to accommodate long-form prose alongside a substantial photography portfolio without either element overwhelming the other.
The solution uses a loose six-column grid that allows text to flow in two- and three-column configurations, with photographs breaking into the margins to create tension between orderly type and expansive image work. Display type is set in a condensed grotesque; body copy in a humanist serif at 9.5/15 for comfortable spread reading.
